Dear Mr. President Donald J. Trump,
I have an extremely important message for You regarding the diplomatic security of the United States.
First of all, I want to thank You, Mr. President Donald J. Trump, and the entire American people for your unwavering support for my homeland, Ukraine, in today"s circumstances and disproportionate confrontation with the Russian aggression.
I have learned that Your administration The White House, Mr. President, intends to consider the candidacy of Gary (Yuri) Tabach (born 1962), a retired captain of the United States Navy, for the position of U.S. Embassy Kyiv Ukraine Ambassador to Ukraine. As is known from public sources, Tabach was the first Russian from the Soviet Union who received an officer"s commission in the United States Armed Forces.
To be honest, when I learned of his candidacy for U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, I thought it was some kind of bad joke. But when I checked the information, I found out — unfortunately, it"s not a joke. I want to believe that this is an unfortunate misunderstanding, and bad people, by entering into the trust of members of Your administration, are trying to implement their cunning plan. Therefore, I hope that You, Mr. President, upon learning of this, will not allow such a fatal decision. After all, in the case of the appointment of Mr. Tabakh as ambassador to Ukraine, or even to another position at the US Embassy in Ukraine, it will cause negative diplomatic consequences. Actually, I think everyone will agree with me that the US diplomatic mission should be represented by at least people with a good reputation and diplomatic tact. And even more so in such a difficult time. I cannot give You advice, Mr. President, but it seems to me that compared to others, it would be much more promising to appoint Ms. Victoria Spartz as the US ambassador to Ukraine. At least she has an understanding of what Ukraine is.
I would like to draw Your attention, Mr. President, that since 2017, individuals with a dubious reputation have been trying to integrate Gary Tabach into the Ukrainian information space. One of these individuals was Pavel Siryk, who in 2019 tried to gain my trust through third parties who collaborated with the administration of then-President Petro Poroshenko. Pavel Siryk personally brought Gary Tabach to me and offered me Tabakh as an expert for central Ukrainian television, supposedly as a representative of the United States. This seemed strange to me at the time and I diplomatically refused them. After all, my contacts in the Security Service of Ukraine gave bad recommendations regarding Tabach and his alleged connection with agents of enemy special services. Later, after the change of power in Ukraine, representatives of Zelensky"s team, as is known, did use Tabach"s services.
Based on the position of my security contacts, I would like to draw the attention of the relevant U.S. Department of State and US government organization, the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation and NSA — National Security Agency, to the need to conduct the investigation of the individuals who are trying to lobby Tabach and his connections with Russian agents.
Mr. President, I tried to find an opportunity through my contacts to convey information to Your administration, but they assured me that they could no longer influence such threats. Therefore, I decided to use a public request to You in order to have a greater chance of quickly conveying to You a problem that could have irreparable consequences for the US diplomatic corps.
I also suspect that now many may want to take advantage of Your trust, Mr. President, and the trust of Your Team Trump members to solve their mercantile interests. I hope that with the help of publicity, I will be able to draw Your attention and prevent dirty games behind Your back. Thank You for Your attention.

Як відомо з відкритих джерел, Табах був першим росіянином з Радянського Союзу, який отримав офіцерське звання в Збройних силах США.
Чесно кажучи, коли я дізнався про його кандидатуру на посаду посла США в Україні, я подумав, що це якийсь злий жарт. Але коли я перевірив інформацію, то з'ясував – на жаль, це не жарт. Хочу вірити, що це прикре непорозуміння, і недобрі люди, увійшовши в довіру до членів Вашої адміністрації, намагаються реалізувати свій хитрий план. Тому я сподіваюся, що Ви, пане Президенте, дізнавшись про це, не допустите такого фатального рішення. Адже у випадку призначення пана Табаха послом в Україні, чи навіть на іншу посаду в посольстві США в Україні, це спричинить негативні дипломатичні наслідки. Власне, я думаю, всі зі мною погодяться, що дипломатичне представництво США мають представляти принаймні люди з хорошою репутацією та дипломатичним тактом. А тим більше в такий важкий час. Я не можу вам радити, пане президенте, але мені здається, що порівняно з іншими було б набагато перспективніше призначити пані Вікторію Спартц послом США в Україні. Принаймні вона має розуміння, що таке Україна.
Звертаю Вашу увагу, пане Президенте, що з 2017 року особи із сумнівною репутацією намагалися інтегрувати Гарі Табаха в український інформаційний простір. Одним із таких осіб був Павло Сірик, який у 2019 році намагався увійти в мою довіру через третіх осіб, які співпрацювали з адміністрацією тодішнього президента Петра Порошенка. Павло Сірик особисто привів до мене Гері Табаха і запропонував Табаха як експерта центрального українського телебачення, нібито як представника США. Мені це тоді здалося дивним, і я дипломатично відмовив їм. Адже мої контакти в СБУ дали погані рекомендації щодо Табаха і його нібито зв'язку з агентами ворожих спецслужб. Пізніше, після зміни влади в Україні, представники команди Зеленського, як відомо, таки скористалися послугами Табаха.
Виходячи з позиції моїх контактів із безпеки, я хотів би звернути увагу відповідного Державного департаменту США та урядової організації США, ФБР – Федерального бюро розслідувань, на необхідність проведення розслідування щодо осіб, які намагаються лобіювати Табаха та його зв'язки з російськими агентами.
Пане Президенте, я намагався через свої контакти знайти можливість донести інформацію до Вашої адміністрації, але вони мене запевнили, що більше не можуть впливати на такі загрози. Тому я вирішив скористатися публічним зверненням до Вас, щоб мати більше шансів швидко донести до Вас проблему, яка може мати непоправні наслідки для дипломатичного корпусу США.
